Importance of procedure

First of all, the cat should be combed so that the hair loss deposits don't collect in your home. In addition, regular procedures have a beneficial effect on the condition of the fur of the animal, and many of them gradually learn to like the process. Thanks to combing, the cat's coat will always be shiny and smooth, and with the arrival of summer, such a procedure will protect the pet from possible heatstroke (especially important for long-haired cats).

Basic tools

The choice of the most suitable tool directly depends on the goal you are pursuing – you are just planning on combing the fur, or want to please your pet with a massage. Let's consider the most common devices.

Furminator

This tool allows you to minimize the amount of hair remaining on furniture and household items. Moreover, the cat's fur becomes smooth and shiny. Attachments may differ in ridge width, handle material, or tine length.

Important: Furminators are not suitable if the cat does not have an undercoat.

The use of a furminator is allowed if there is no damage to the cat's skin, and there are tangles in the fur itself.

Gloves

This tool is very similar to a rubber glove. You just need to put it in the palm of your hand and you can comb your pet, who will perceive the process not as an unpleasant procedure, but as a master caress.

Raincoat

This coat is suitable for caring for long and short haired cats. Often the teeth of such brushes are equipped with special plastic caps that protect the cat's skin from irritation and mechanical damage.

Cats with long hair should have in their arsenal, not one, but several combs: gloves for removing loose hair, a comb – for combing hair, and a brush – for direct combing. It is better to carry out the procedure every day, otherwise the long hair will start to tangle. Keep in mind that on the belly the coat is more prone to tangling, and on the paws it gets dirty more quickly, so special attention should be paid to this area.

Short haired

For a pet that licks itself, and the fur isn't tangled, a glove or brush will suffice – simply "walk" the tool over the fur coat to remove any fallen hair.

Duration and frequency
